Prayer for the Classroom: After Typhoon Haiyan

Dear God,
We know that you are a kind and loving God.  Thank you for this Earth you have made.  Please protect the people, animals and plants that have been destroyed because of the storm.  Give them food, clean water, and loving care.  Help kids to find their parents.  Help parents to find their kids.  And help families move close to each other in love.
Please grow your human family so that we all care when someone is hurting.  Help us at DCS to soften our hearts when we hear about suffering.  And then please give us ways to help.

In Christ’s name we pray, Amen

I wrote this prayer for use in the classroom to raise awareness and because I believe kids' prayer outweighs adults' by ten.

Typhoon Haiyan/Yolanda

I write this post in response to the massive devastation in the Philippines but also to all the folks that have been asking me about my extended family and lovingly expressed concern.

I have been rewatching this:  Environmental Diplomat Makes Emotional Plea

And wanting to fast with Naderev Sano, fasting for his brother: "Ratifying Our Own Doom"

Stay Tuned, A Little Catchup

Stay tuned because my blog is under undercover construction by Carpe Diem Construction! She’s teaching me to blog from my phone (I know, right?), to treat my work with dignity, and to not hide under a bushel basket.

Because I am in the midst of not one, not two, but three classes this term, I will list for you the things I have been ruminating over and really should blog about:

::Maxiney died last Spring.
::Benicio endured/went through two soccer travel-team tryouts.
::Soccer has become our life. I have wept over the improvements these girls are making. And I’m not talking about my daughters,I had no idea I’d love other’s people’s kids this much.
::You haven’t seen a sweeper-defender until you watch Calliope Free blow your mind.
::In the very beginning of Fall, was privileged to be part of an incredible birth, one for the books, I tell you.
::Am certifying with Birth Arts International-- doulas that are taking over like Hokusai’s wave, man.
::The documentary that has changed the way this house runs.
::The documentary that has changed the way we eat.
::My Counseling Physiology class is opening my eyes so much: What’s somatic? What’s an issue of the heart?  Why is there so much crossover?
::My Marriage Counseling class:  Friendship is so much like loving, mutual, scriptural friendship, duh.
::And Church History with this teacher is teaching me:  God is so incredible that he designed it so that church and life could still go on amidst utter human chaos and depravity.  We are such a mix of politics, belief, ritual and love. Religion is not of our own making.  Sacrament and ritual are God’s gifts and signs to us.
